Security Guard License Vermont

Security Guard License Vermont requires its prospective security guards applying for license to:

1. Be at least 18 years old

2. Submit a correctly answered application form available at the Board of Private Investigative & Security Services. The application form has to be signed and dated.

3. Attach a 2x2 colored ID photo to the said application.

4. Fingerprint cards are no longer required but fingerprints taken electronically at an IDENT Center.

Fees

Applicants are required to pay:

$50- for unarmed status

$100- for amred status

Required Training

A Vermont Criminal Information Center background check is performed on all applicants. Once the VCICbackground check is completed, a 60-day Temporary Permit may be granted to eligible applicants. Theexpiration date of the Temporary Permit is stamped on the form. During that 60-day period, the Agency mustsubmit proof that the applicant has successfully completed a Board-Approved 40-hour training program. A fullregistration/license will not be granted without proof of successful completion of the training.Applications for part-time employees (less than 80 hour per month) must include proof that the employeecompleted a minimum of eight (8) hours of training (approved by the Board), prior to the issuance of aTemporary Permit. The remaining training hours for part-time employees shall be completed within thetemporary registration period of 180 days or before the employee has worked 500 hours, whichever occurs first.Permanent registration will not occur for full-time or part-time applicants until an applicant has successfullycompleted a Board-Approved 40-hour training program and submitted the Certificate of Training to the Board.
